Over the past years, this annual event has received overwhelming support from up to 800 attendees who come from more than 20 nationalities representing more than 60 different community organizations.

This celebration of multiculturalism and diversity in Victoria continues to grow and promises to be even more exciting this year! This Annual event has entrenched and established itself as a significant date in Victorian multicultural calendar.

I take pride in sharing and having your continuing support of this annual celebration. I also offer my thanks for assisting in my re-election and the re-election of the Brumby Labor Government.

This year we will welcome our Special Guest the Hon. Simon Crean to attend this event. Mr. Crean is the Minister for Employment & Workplace Relations; Minister for Education, Minister for Social Inclusion.

Key in your postcode and current supplier and a few small steps and you can view all offers.

Take your time, make phone contact, ask questions about contract terms, termination fees and green power.

In you are happy with your current supplier(s) except for the price, contact them and ask for a better deal.

Remember, you are the customer!

Dear Residents,

The Brumby Labor Government is taking action to help local families save money on their energy bills whilst keeping warm this winter.

Whether you are renting or own your own home, protecting your home from the winter chill is now easier and cheaper, with discounts and special offers available to upgrade heating, install energy efficient light globes and draught-proof your home through the Brumby Labor Government’s Energy Saver Incentive.

For many Victorian families, heating makes up the largest part of energy bills. Through participating businesses, the Energy Saver Incentive provides discounts and special offers on a range of energy efficient measures, including some which will help you heat your home for less this winter.

Incentives can range from $50 to benefits worth several thousand dollars, with some of the biggest savings to be made by switching from old electric heating to efficient gas heating.

If you are renting, some of the ways you can cut your energy bill this winter include;

• Installing energy efficient light globs
• Maximise heat retention with close-fitting lined curtains and blinds
• Turning off appliances at the wall

Or if you own your own home, some of the steps you can take include;

• Double-glazing windows
• Sealing gaps around doors and windows
• Buy high-rated ceiling insulation and use high-rated wall insulation in your building or renovating
• Drought-proofing vents and chimneys

Dear Residents,

Unsolicited sales people and intrusive door knockers are becoming more of a problem in our area but you can do something about it.

Increasingly, I am hearing complaints about sales people pressuring residents into unwanted contracts or products that are too good to be true.

However, there are rules these door sales people MUST comply with, such as:

• If you ask the seller to leave, he or she must leave immediately.
• Sellers are required to provide evidence of their identity.
• A seller must tell you that they are not allowed to stay longer than one hour unless you consent in writing
• Any agreement that you make with a door to door seller to purchase goods or services must be in writing.
• You ARE allowed to cancel an agreement with a door to door seller within 10 days if you change your mind.
