NAPTHINE’S $2 MILLION STUDY SCRAPS RAIL LINK AND LOCAL BUSES

Posted on 17. Jun, 2014 in News

The Napthine Government’s $2 million Rowville Rail Study has shelved Rowville’s rail link and recommended scrapping key local bus services.

This costly study was supposed to improve public transport in Rowville, but it’s done the opposite: Rowville Rail will never get built and local buses may be scrapped.

Before the last election, the Napthine Government promised new rail links to Rowville, Doncaster and Avalon Airport. These promises were broken.

Quotes attributable to Ms Hennessy:

“Denis Napthine and Kim Wells have turned their backs on Rowville.”

“This multi-million dollar rail study didn’t just dump Rowville Rail – it recommended scrapping even more local buses.”

“Instead of Rowville Rail, Denis Napthine’s priority is an inner-city tunnel that costs too much and won’t do enough.”

Key Facts

• Only Labor will remove 50 level crossings and build Melbourne Metro to double the size of the City Loop – the first step to expanding our rail network in the future.
• Labor will also introduce 24 hour public transport on weekends. Trains and trams will run all through the night, to get you home safe.
