LABOR WILL END LIBERAL ADVERTISING BLITZ

Posted on 05. Nov, 2014 in Election Media Release, News

An Andrews Labor Government will end Denis Napthine’s dishonest multi-million dollar advertising blitz on imaginary Liberal projects.

Under Labor, television advertising will be limited to health and safety, community wellbeing and behavioural change. The Premier will issue advertising guidelines and the Auditor-General will have oversight.

Reasonable examples of Government television advertising include TAC, anti-smoking campaigns, SunSmart, fire readiness and problem gambling campaigns.

In 2010, the Liberals promised to crack down on Government advertising by setting up a five person panel headed by a retired judge.

It’s just another broken promise. Quotes attributable to Mr Pakula “The Liberals have taken taxpayer-funded advertising to a new level: taxpayer-funded lies, about projects that don’t exist.”

“People struggling home from their overcrowded, delayed or cancelled train are turning on the TV and getting bombarded with ads about how perfect the Liberals think the train system is.”

“While TAFE has been gutted and ambulances can’t turn up on time, the Liberals are spending tens of millions of taxpayer dollars on blatantly political Government propaganda.

Labor will end it.”

Key facts A Labor Government will put new advertising standards into legislation.
