Victoria’s youth unemployment crisis has worsened under Denis Napthine.
Australian Bureau of Statistics figures show Victoria’s youth unemployment is the worst on the mainland, sitting at 21.1 per cent for 15-19 year olds.
Youth unemployment continues to run high as the Napthine Government takes an axe to education and training budgets reducing retraining opportunities for the unemployed.
These appalling figures are further evidence of the Napthine Government’s inaction on jobs over three and a half years in Government.
Quotes attributable to Mr Pallas:
“Victoria is losing jobs, workers are worried about their future, our youth can’t get the training they need to get a job, Denis Napthine doesn’t have a plan and is slashing education and training budgets.”
“Victoria used to be the jobs capital of Australia and the engine room of the national economy before the dysfunctional Napthine Liberal Government sent us backwards.”
“If you are looking for work under Denis Napthine and the Liberals, you’re on your own.”
• Under Denis Napthine and the Liberals there are more than 45,000 more unemployed Victorians.
• Denis Napthine has cut more than $1.2 billion from education and TAFE.
