CLAYTON ELECTORATE MISSES OUT IN NAPTHINE’S BUDGET

Posted on 09. May, 2014 in Clayton Update

Denis Napthine’ has abandoned schools in the Clayton electorate.

Locals in the Clayton electorate and especially residents with children attending Clayton South Primary School who have lobbied hard for funding to rebuild their school, but Denis Napthine has ignored them again.

Denis Napthine’s only priority is the election, not our children’s education.

Labor Member for Clayton Hong Lim said local parents won’t be fooled.

“Clayton South Primary School in particular had engaged with the Education Department way back in 2008 and the departmental report clearly assessed the school as meeting every educational criterion for rebuilding,” Mr Lim said.

“Plans were drawn up, with the project ready for tender in late 2010 but once they were elected, education cuts kicked in and monies wasted.”

“I raised this school’s situation in Parliament on Thursday 9 May but received the usual negative response.”

“In fact, Denis Napthine has failed to invest in any schools in the electorate.”

“Denis Napthine has a shocking report card, with hundreds of millions in cuts to programs like Reading Recovery and the School Start Bonus that helped parents and students.”

“The Liberals are spending less than half of what Labor spent on new school buildings, facilities, classrooms and grounds.”

“Under Denis Napthine and the Liberals, parents and teachers are on their own,” Mr Lim said.
