BUDGET REALITY – NAPTHINE BUDGET: NO PLAN FOR JOBS, NO PLAN FOR OUR FUTURE

Posted on 07. May, 2014 in News

Victoria is losing jobs every day and Denis Napthine still doesn’t have a plan.

Denis Napthine’s Budget doesn’t do enough to support struggling industries and encourage job growth in new areas.

As unemployment increases, especially among our youth, no plan for jobs and no plan for TAFE is no plan for our future.

Our economy has stagnated because the Napthine Government has done nothing. The desperate infrastructure wish-list in this Budget is too little, too late and won’t be delivered for decades.

In an admission of failure, this Budget revises upwards the unemployment projections for this year.

Meanwhile, Denis Napthine is spending $124 million less on TAFE and has ripped the heart out of Melbourne’s most important transport project.

Quotes attributable to Tim Pallas:

“Under Denis Napthine, Victoria has ground to a halt and this Budget won’t get it going again.”

“This Budget will put us behind, because no plan for jobs and no plan for TAFE is no plan for our future.”

“Under Denis Napthine and the Liberals, you’re on your own.”

Key facts:

• Youth unemployment in Victoria is the highest on the mainland.
• This is the highest taxing Government in Victorian history.
• Denis Napthine cut $1.2 billion from TAFE.
• Nearly 52,000 Victorians have become unemployed under the Napthine Government.
