At the Building Business Bridges to Asia Annual Dinner on 20 March 2013, in the Victorian Parliament House, accompanied by 7 of his senior economic related portfolio Shadow Ministers, the Honourable Daniel Andrews, Leader of the Labor Party, in front of 70 Asian business community leaders, announced the promotion of Clayton MP Hong Lim to be his Shadow Parliamentary Secretary on Asian Business Relations.

Interviewed by the Zhong Hua Chinese TV, who came to cover this special annual dinner, MP Hong Lim stressed that his promotion reflects the importance the Opposition Leader, Daniel Andrews, has given to the business relations between Victoria and Asia following his successful first visit to China last December.

Mr. Lim said that his new enhanced role as a Shadow Parliamentary Secretary would involve the promotion of trade and investment opportunities between Victoria and Asia, particularly China and to put Victoria in a most advantageous position by making the most of this economic rapidly growing region in the world.

“Victoria, with its well established Chinese business community leaders, like those attending this dinner tonight, can take the lead in spearheading the “Australia in the Asian Century” policy, where business relations are concerned.” Mr. Lim added.

Mr. Lim is visiting Beijing, Tianjin (Melbourne’s Sister City), Changsa and Guangzhou next week. In Beijing he will be briefed by the newly opened VGBO (Victorian Government Business Office).
