Health Minister David Davis has failed Victorian patients today releasing a trumped up university essay as the Baillieu Government’s health plan which fails to deliver more funding for extra doctors and nurses, Shadow Health Minister Gavin Jennings said today.

Mr Jennings said the 86-page 12-year Metropolitan Health Plan failed to allocate a single new dollar for health services in Victoria and was heavy on rhetoric but light on detail.

“This health plan fails to deliver one more hospital bed, one more doctor, one more nurse. This document is nothing but a sham,” Mr Jennings said.

“And all it sets out is a further six reports to be commissioned before a final health strategy is delivered.

“When will Ted Baillieu realise that words don’t treat patients?

“Victorian patients and health staff want Ted Baillieu to start delivering and stop dithering.

“Whilst Ted Baillieu and David Davis continue to write plans, patients and staff are waiting for them to act.”

Mr Jennings said Victorian patients could not wait another 12 years for further investments in the state’s health system to be made.

“We have seen the Coalition cave into overwhelming community support to fund the final stage of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre,” he said.

“What is clear is that the Coalition has no plan to boost health services for Victorian patients.”

Mr Jennings said Mr Davis had failed to provide quarterly reporting on the performance of Victoria’s health and hospital system.

“Ted Baillieu has also failed to honour his promise to provide quarterly reporting on the performance of Victoria’s health and hospital system,” he said.

“The Coalition have now been in Government for five months and have failed to provide this information.

“Last year, Ted Baillieu promised that “accountability and transparency will be the principles that underpin our government

“It has become evident that this is just spin from the Government.”
