Labor Member for Clayton Hong Lim has called on the community to nominate outstanding seniors ahead of this year’s Senior of the Year Awards.

“Seniors in the Clayton electorate are a vital part of our community and the Victorian Senior of the Year Awards is a great way to recognise their contribution,” he said.

“Each year the Victorian Senior of the Year Awards recognise the outstanding leadership and contributions made by our older Victorians.

“There are five categories in the 2011 Victorian Senior of the Year Awards, so I encourage people to nominate an outstanding Victorian aged 60 and over.”

Mr Lim said nominations were now open for the following categories:

  • Senior of the Year award;
  • Council on the Ageing Victorian Senior Achiever Awards;
  • Promotion of Multicultural Award;
  • Healthy and Active Living Award; and
  • Veteran Community Award.

“The Awards are a great way for the community to say thankyou and recognise the many achievements of seniors,” Mr Lim said.

“A nomination for the Victorian Senior of the Year Awards demonstrates your support and also encourages more seniors to continue to be involved in the community.

“If you know a senior that has achieved something exceptional and would like to nominate them for the 2011 Victorian Senior of the Year Awards, please call or drop into the electorate office at Level 1, 1312 Centre Road Clayton South.”
