The Premier of Victoria John Brumby today called for nominations for Victoria’s Multicultural Awards for Excellence.

Mr Brumby said the prestigious awards program was established in 2002 to recognise and reward the contributions of individuals and organisations that promote the social, economic and cultural benefits of Victoria’s multicultural community.

“Each year the Awards for Excellence provide an opportunity to honour those outstanding individuals and organisations across Victoria who make a positive impact within their local community,” Mr Brumby said.

“I urge you to nominate exceptional individuals and organisations who have demonstrated their passion and commitment to promoting cultural diversity and harmony in their chosen fields.

“Whether it is the field of education, innovation, healthcare, community development, sport or the arts, I encourage any Victorian who believes they have a friend, colleague, or family member deserving of official recognition to submit a nomination on their behalf.”

The nine categories are:

  • Award for Meritorious Service in the Community
  • Premier’s Award for Community Harmony
  • Business Corporate Award
  • Service Delivery to Multicultural Victoria Award
  • Police and Community Multicultural Advisory Committee Awards
  • Ambassador Award
  • Media Award
  • Education Award
  • Local Government Award

Nominations close on Wednesday 7 July.
