GRANTS OPEN TO HONOUR OUR LOCAL VETERANS

GRANTS OPEN TO HONOUR OUR LOCAL VETERANS

Posted on 04. Aug, 2010 in Clayton Update

Member for Clayton Hong Lim today encouraged local ex-service organisations, Councils and community groups to apply for funding for veterans’ support and commemoration projects.

Mr Lim said the Veterans Council Grants Program provided funding of up to $50,000 for local projects that honoured local veterans.

“Our veterans are an important part of the Clayton electorate community and we will never forget their courage and sacrifices,” he said.

“The Veterans Council Grants Program enables us to give back to our veterans through projects and initiatives that honour their legacy.”

Mr Lim said the local ex-service and community organisations could get involved by developing projects that honoured the service or sacrifice of veterans, informed Victorians about our history of service in conflicts and peacekeeping operations or assisted with the education of the ex-service community.

“Education about our wartime history and commemorative events and sites in our community will keep the memory of our veterans’ courage and alive so their legacy will never be forgotten,” he said.

Applications for Veterans Council Grants close on Monday 6 September 2010.
