Andrew’s Shadow Cabinet to keep Baillieu to account

Portfolio responsibilities for the Victorian shadow cabinet have been announced by Labor Leader Daniel Andrews.

“We will work hard each and every day to hold Ted Baillieu and his Government to account on behalf of all Victorians,” Mr Andrews said.

“Mr Baillieu has made hundreds of promises across the state and he owes it to all Victorians to deliver on each and every one.

“Labor has put in place a strong, united and energetic team.

“I know that every member of the team will work hard every day to make sure that the Baillieu Government is held to account and delivers on its commitments.

“My team will be out meeting with key stakeholders and listening to the public to get a better understanding of their portfolios over the coming days and weeks.”

Mr Andrews said Labor had introduced a range of new portfolios.

“These new portfolios will provide better scrutiny and greater emphasis on what the community wants,” he said.

“These new portfolios include Shadow Minister for Suburbs, Shadow Minister for the Cost of Living, and Shadow Minister for Sustainable Growth.

“Other additions are shadow ministers for Health Promotion, Volunteers, TAC and Road Safety, and Electoral Reform.

“We will also have a shadow ministry with the specific responsibility for maintaining the A Fairer Victoria policy framework.

“We also believe it’s important for the Federal and State Governments to work closely with one another and that’s why we have included a Shadow Minister for Commonwealth State Relations.”

The shadow cabinet includes nine new frontbenchers and eight females.
