A BAILLIEU GOVERNMENT TO PUT HEALTH BEDS AND $900 MILLION FUNDING AT RISK

Ted Baillieu and the Liberal National Coalition need to reveal to families whether they will jeopardise vital investments to improve health services.

Health Minister Daniel Andrews said Ted Baillieu had this week admitted he might walk away from the historic health agreement signed by the Brumby Labor Government.

“The Brumby Labor Government secured more than $900 million of health funding from the Commonwealth Government as part of the COAG health deal,” Mr Andrews said.

Member for Clayton, Hong Lim, said voters would remember only too well that the Liberals couldn’t be trusted on health after the dark days of when they were last in office.

“Last time they were in Government, the Liberals closed 12 hospitals and sacked hundreds of nurses. These people are never happier than when they are closing hospitals, and now they want to cut funding before they even get to Election day,” Mr Lim said

“Surely the Opposition would not renege on this historic deal and force Victorians to repay Commonwealth funding that has already been allocated to health projects,” Mr Lim said.
