2010年8月29日星期日澳華歷史博物館裝修後重開今天，隨著澳華博物館重新開放，維州各界群眾又能夠欣賞到博物館內的收藏和展品了。經過維州政府一百二十萬澳幣的撥款，這座得以重新裝修的博物館，今天在維州州長佈朗比的主持下，於墨爾本唐人街心臟地帶- Cohen Place得以重新開放。維州眾議院議員、州長亞洲商務特別顧問林美豐，對博物館得以重新裝修並開放表示歡迎。作為政府的“唐人街文化區顧問論壇”主席，林美豐為博物館最終獲得維州政府一百二十萬元的撥款不遺餘力；他說，這是我們維州，乃至澳洲華人的大喜事，我由衷的感到高興。林美豐表示，很榮幸和華人社區的領袖們合作，將這筆撥款用於美化和完善整個唐人街區域；尤其是澳華歷史博物館的領導層，多年來他們一直非常出色。他同時表示，能夠主持政府的顧問論壇，並產生實際效應，自己非常自豪並高興，這也是我們華人社區值得驕傲的事情。州長佈朗比說，華人社區在維州歷史久悠久，保持華族的歷史和文化對下一代很重要。唐人街在語言、文化和建築方面，都是墨爾本這種城市至關重要的一部分。每天，我們都可以看到唐人街車水馬龍，墨爾本本地居民和來自世界各地的遊客都視唐人街為主要的旅遊和文化景點。林美豐議員表示，這就是為什麼政府會大力支持澳華博物館裝修工程，以此來保證我們華人的文化和紮根維州的歷史得以記錄，讓維州人民和各地訪客都能夠了解我們的文化和歷史，以及移民的重要性。裝修工程包括空調設備，使任何時候造訪博物館的遊客都能享受舒適的環境，而展品也能得到較好的保護。另外，現有的社區廳內裝設了專為遊客準備的廚房；取名為“記憶之橋”的互動展覽館，展示了自1950年以來的華人移民的故事。這次一百二十萬元的撥款來自總計一千萬元的“文化街美化基金”，該基金是維州政府、墨爾本市、華人社區、意大利社區、希臘社區之間的合作項目，旨在完善墨爾本久負盛名的三大文化街: 意大利街(Lygon Street) 、唐人街和希臘街(Lonsdale Street) 。文件链接
